Bermuda Camp Ministry Volunteer

Paget, Bermuda

Opportunity: Bermuda Camp Ministry Volunteer
Location: Paget, Bermuda
Opportunity Type: Launch ShortTerm Missionary
Dates: June 21 - August 14, 2021
Interns (1-2 years) will share in just about every aspect of ministry: WOL Clubs in local church and public schools, evangelistic events (Superbowl, Camp, Olympian events), leadership in a local church, opportunities to teach and preach, office management, one-on-one discipleship & other options that can be arranged based on an intern’s interests. Launch Summer Students (5-8 weeks) will be involved in local church Vacation Bible Schools, personal evangelism, four weeks of Teen Camp as a counselor or other staff member, personal discipleship opportunities & time to enjoy the beauty of Bermuda.

The ministry of Word of Life Bermuda has great potential for expansion. More local schools would like to have WOL Clubs than we have staff to facilitate them. Interns and Launch students work right alongside local missionaries in all aspects of ministry and discipleship. The intern staff help increase our ability to reach and impact more children and students through all the aspects of ministry.

Details

Travel

Bermuda has one airport and flights from The US and Canada fly here daily. Most US East coast cities have daily flights (Miami, Atlanta, Washington, Philadelphia, Newark, JFK, Boston) as well as daily flights from Toronto. L.F. Wade Airport is in St. Georges parish.

Visa

When coming to Bermuda for summer or 1-2 year internships, we apply for a temporary visa that extends for the time of your stay in Bermuda. There will be some information required for visa application and our staff will work with you to secure your immigration approval.

Food

Word of Life Camp property in Bermuda is a separate island, and we all move to the island for the weeks of camp; sleeping and eating there. For ministry on the mainland an apartment with cooking facilities will be arranged but where interns need to be with a family arrangements are made.

Housing

Most will live in an apartment or house with other interns and at times with a local family depending on the time of the stay in Bermuda.

Transportation

Summer Launch Interns & yearly interns will have a motor scooter to travel around the island. Our directors work with students to equip you to be a secure and confident driver on Bermuda’s roads. We also have ministry vans for group transportation to events.

What To Bring

Normal casual clothing appropriate for all WOL Camps and ministry. For the summer this will include shorts, t-shirts & other comfortable wear. Some churches here will require you wear a dress/shirt & tie if speaking or participating in ministry, so bring at least 1 or 2 Sunday outfits. Interns will experience all 4 seasons in Bermuda. Our winters average 50-65 degrees in January – March and you’ll need a winter coat and warm clothes when riding your scooter in winter. Snow boots and extremely warm clothing and winter coats will not be necessary. In most cases bedding is provided for you.

What To Wear

Smart casual clothing especially in summer. Some church men will wear ties and women dresses. Bring a couple for times you minister in those type churches.

Other

Our Office is in Paget, Bermuda, but ministry opportunities will depend on the local church, or school ministry a particular intern is place in. Bermuda is only 21 square miles in total. Eating out in Bermuda is common and safe. Movement around the island is not a safety issue. However, Bermuda is extremely expensive compared with The US or Canadian prices. You will not want to eating our 3-4 times a week, or you’ll run out of spending funds.
