About Abbie

Though all my life I had heard the gospel and sat under solid biblical teaching both at church and at home, I was hardened to it and chose not to base my life on it until age 14. It took a series of unfortunate decisions and mistakes for me to realize I couldn’t control sin in my life and that I needed the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead to defeat it for me. Acknowledging my greater need, peace with God, I placed my trust in Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection as the only way to be forgiven.

God used discipleship experiences during my college years to call me to ministry. I developed a hunger to know God's word and share it, loving God and people with all my heart, soul, strength and mind when it was modeled for me at Penn State University and Word of Life Bible Institute, NY. I grew a lot through the Cross-Cultural Internship program with Word of Life Fellowship in South Africa. It was there that God affirmed to me what my giftings, skills, and passions were.

I moved back to the States and became an Admissions Counselor with Word of Life Bible Institute’s Enrollment Office in New York. Additional to the platform I had with prospective students, I had such an awesome opportunity to share my life with current students. I recognized I thrived most when I had opportunities to train, instruct, and devote time to community building with students who served in our office. As I recognized that, God drew my attention to Palavra da Vida Portugal. Their ministry vision matched the next steps I felt God asking me to take, regarding best investing my gifts, skills, and passions.
