Ministry Description

Revive is a music ministry. We travel the east coast and then some to different churches, schools, and youth groups playing worship music and sharing the love of Christ. We are going to have a lot of opportunities to share the gospel and to speak into many kids lives. When we set up at schools, we are often there for a few days, which allows us to be able to build some relationships with the students. We believe in playing excellent music, but that is secondary to forming relationships with the people we are singing with.

About Luke

Life Before Salvation: Ephesians 2:8-9

Before I was saved, I thought I was a generally good kid in my own eyes. I followed all the rules and listened to my parents (for the most part). My parents went to church when they were kids, however, they were never saved. Not until I was born did my parents start going to church again and were saved. I am very thankful that my parents were saved and raised me up as in the Church. Therefore, I had heard the gospel through Sunday school and from my parents often. When I was younger I never truly grasped Ephesians 2:8-9, 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Even though I knew the verse, I still was focused on good works/behavior as my savior. Nothing really clicked about the fact that Jesus died for ME, not until we moved to a new church.

How I Was Saved: Romans 3:23

The new church we moved to had more kids and a youth group. There were many events in the youth group that I got to attend, including The Superbowl (Now Reverb). I was about ten years old at the time when my sister, my cousin, and I went to the event. I remember after the hockey game and message, something clicked. Romans 3:23 says, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. I’m not sure if the speaker said this verse during the message, but it encaptures what I realized that night. I realized that I was a sinner and I needed Jesus.

My Life Change: Romans 12:2

My life went on with some change, but I acted mostly the same because I had grown up in the Church. As I started to get older however, I started struggling with my thoughts. From the outside, I was a “good” person. But I knew in my mind that I wasn’t good. I judged people, saved and unsaved for their actions, I let my mind wander to bad thoughts, and I had hateful thoughts towards people. I struggled finding good friends in the public-school system. I found many people that challenged my faith, and I struggled staying pure surrounded by them, from their language and other actions. Through God, however, I was able to stay away from many bad things at middle and high school and I’m very thankful for that. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” I think that this verse sums up my outlook on life after salvation.

Even with these struggles I started to get more involved at my local church. I learned how to run the soundboard and helped run Sunday services for a few years. I also started learning how to play guitar so that I could be on the worship band at church. I found a lot of joy in playing music, especially for the Lord. I was able to play on the camp crew band at Word of Life Islands for two summers, and the next year I played on the Unseen band during my first year at the Bible Institute. Now I have the awesome opportunity to use my love of music to be on the Revive band for a year.
