SYME Scholarship Project

SYME is a unique ministry in Taiwan where Word of Life (WOL) uses an english immersion environment as a tool for evangelizing, discipling, and training students.

Our program is a way for Taiwanese people to get introduced to Jesus and learn how to share Jesus with friends and family!

It costs us $200 for a student to attend SYME for one week. 

But in that week they will spend 48 class hours around Christians. They grow by being exposed to the gospel, studying scripture, practicing ministry, and living life among believers. Outside the classroom, our WOL Team will spend countless hours with them at dorms, visting them at home, and building relationships that last for a lifetime. 

How can you help?

We want to lower the cost to students so more Taiwanese people can hear about Jesus!

Students who attend our program walk through the story of Jesus, the story of Israel, how to study the Bible, and how to apply it. Every day opens with reading God's Word (A Quiet Time) followed by discussion with teachers about the passage. We build lifelong spiritual disciplines at SYME and foster an environment for nationals to connect with God.

Unlike a traditional Bible school, students may come from different religous backgrounds and often attend our unique program only intending to improve in English. We open our training to anyone but all students must agree to study the Bible while at SYME and live in Christian community. This creates opportunity for a unique way to evangelize to students that come from Daoist, Buddhist, and non-christian backgrounds. It is through living among believers and studying the scriptures that God changes lives even among those who only come for English training.   

We have the privilege of regularly seeing Taiwanese people come to know the Lord and grow in their relationship with Jesus. Our program covers not just education but meals and housing. This allows even more opportunity to share Jesus around the dining table and after classes. 

We are seeking funding to lower the cost of operating our program so we can minister to even more students and increase the reach of SYME. With over 700 alumni, SYME has been an incredible and life-changing program for many students from different nations around the world.

SYME is seeking to raise $50,000 in annual scholarship funding in order to operate long-term and serve a student body of 40 students per term. Please prayerfully consider joining us and partnering financially to reach Taiwan!
