About Bob

Born into a Christian European/ Canadian family in 1939, Bob Parschauer received the assurance of salvation at the age of 17. He attended Briercrest High School in 1957 and graduated in 1959. In the fall of 1959 he attended Briercrest Bible College in Sask. Canada and graduated in 1962. In 1960, he, along with Chuck Kosman, Larry Locken and Len Wiebe became the radio quartet as well as representatives of the Briercrest Bible College for the next two years.

In September1962, the quartet met Jack Wyrtzen the founder of Word of Life Fellowship in the New York area where they were renamed the “Word of Life Quartet” and traveled with Jack for the next two years. They ministered in churches, rallies, TV & radio programs as well as at the Word of Life camps. This was a great training ground for them as they prepared to move to Europe as missionaries. Bobby Batdorf joined the team in 1970 as their pianist.

In October 1964, Bob, along with the quartet, moved to Germany to begin what became the ministry of Word of Life Germany, which would touch the lives of “young people” all across Europe. What began in Germany has branched out to Kenya East Africa, Uganda, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, England, Scotland, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Serbia and Turkey.

Right from the beginning of this great work, Bob became known as the evangelist of the group. He is dynamic and fiery in his manner of preaching, and has a deep desire to get people motivated towards missions. The quartet, during their years together, sang and preached to literally, hundreds of thousands of people, in Europe, Africa, Canada and the USA. Bob has also preached in South and Central America.

Bob was ordained at Mountainside Bible Chapel Schoon Lake, NY in 1978. In October 1998, He was presented with an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Briercrest Biblical Seminary.

His 63 years of ministry have taken him to 40 countries of the world, giving him a wealth of information and experience. He has spent much time in the Eastern European countries where he experienced great revivals, especially before and right after the Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain came down.

Bob & his family were moved to America in 1987 and became the European Representative, recruiting new missionaries for Europe as well as finances for the new ministries. He spends time, every year in Europe, encouraging and ministering together with our teams in those countries, as well as speaking at missionary conferences and Bible colleges, planning and organizing tours for European and African teams and traveling with them in USA and Canada. During the last 39 years Bob organized and ministered in more than 2500 meetings in 800 – 900 different churches throughout USA and Canada.

Bob was married to Betts Wagner, who went home to be with the Lord after 28 years of battling cancer. Bob has three children, all who love the Lord. He has since married Mary Anne Pirie who has worked as a “Child Evangelism Fellowship” missionary in Ontario, Canada all of her adult life. For many years her ministry in elementary schools in Norfolk County was very effective. Hundreds of children became familiar with Bible stories, memorized Bible verses and sang Christian songs during those years. She is known in many churches for her children’s missions conferences and special events such as fair ministry which she began and led for 23 years with the help of up to100 helpers every year from churches in Ontario Canada. Up to 4,000 children and adults a year attended her presentations at the Norfolk County fair hearing a story from the Bible with a clear gospel message. She has also traveled to many South and Middle American countries teaching teachers how to effectively teach children. During the last 11 years Mary Anne and Bob, have visited 26 countries, 38 US states and 9 provinces of Canada representing our European and African Word of Life ministries in most of these countries.
