Ministry Description

After nearly forty years of ministry with Word of Life Australia, Lynda and I have been given new ministry roles by the Lord and Word of Life! We have taken on the roles of Missionary Member Care and Missionary in Training (MIT) Coordinator for the Word of Life Indo-Pacific Region.
The mission of WOL Fellowship around the world is “the evangelization and discipleship of youth through various means consistent with the Holy Scriptures to strengthen and build up the church of Jesus Christ.” Our vision is to see “every student taking their next step with Jesus.” Over half of the world’s population lives in the Indo-Pacific Region; Word of Life is working in 16 of these countries and has over 250 missionaries.

As Missionary Member Carers, we have the privilege of providing ongoing support to many missionaries and their families. Our role is to care for their spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, and economical needs. We seek to provide guidance/assistance from recruitment to retirement!
In our role as MIT Coordinators, we are the ones who will guide and assist a missionary candidate through the application process. Choosing to become a full-time missionary is a big commitment. We have the privilege of working with the candidates as they seek to follow the LORD’s direction in their lives.

Do we feel adequate for the task? NO WAY! Nevertheless, we are depending on our Lord to lead, guide, and help us. We are holding on to the promise the Lord made to Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

With help from the Lord and through your prayers, we will endeavor to care for the missionaries in our region! The greatest asset a missionary can have is someone praying for them.

About Jim

Having eight years of perfect attendance in Sunday School in my teenage years was the perfect setting to hear Harry Bollback preach on Hebrews 2:3. I was challenged to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior or to get out of the church. I praise the Lord that on July 19, 1975, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

During my year (1977) at the Word of Life Bible Institute, I answered the call to serve the Lord full-time. I finished my education at Citadel Bible College in Ozark, Arkansas, where I met Lynda, who became my wife on 16 January 1982. We were accepted to serve the Lord with Word of Life International in 1983 and arrived in Australia in 1986. For the last 39 plus years of ministry, Lynda and I have been actively involved with the WOL Australia Ministry. We are excited for the new opportunities the Lord has given us in our roles as Missionary Member Care and Missionary in Training Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific Region.

About Lynda

I accepted Jesus Christ to be my personal Saviour after my public high school teacher shared the gospel with me. This same teacher has been and still is a godly influence in my life. After attending Pensacola Christian College for two- and one-half years, I transferred to Citadel Bible College and graduated with a major in Bible/Missions Education. It was during a missions’ conference at my home church in Memphis, Tennessee, that I knew that God wanted me to serve Him full-time overseas. When Jim and I met at Citadel, we both knew that God had called us to serve Him overseas. We are grateful that God called us to serve Him with Word of Life in Australia for almost 40 years; now we are ministering to the present and future WOL missionaries in the greater Indo-Pacific Region. Our son, Jeremiah, and his wife, Jess, have two beautiful daughters named Bella and Brooklyn and one wonderful son named Hudson.
