Ministry Description

Tom is a Zone leader of the Indo Pacific Rim. His key roles are to help leaders in this area where necessary with coaching, encouragement, and support. He has responsibilities over New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji where Word of Life currently exist. He will be endeavouring to set up Word of Life ministries in some other Pacific Islands where he has contacts.

About Tom

I was one of ten children. I was raised on a farm and as a young boy was taught the things of God by my parents. We would often have missionaries to stay that impacted my life. However I did not embrace the gospel really for myself until the age of 13. It was then at a Christian camp that the Lord really spoke to me. I also felt the call to youth ministry at this age and that desire never left me. My teen years were not fully lived for God but as I entered adult life I fully surrendered to Christ. After I left high school I was farming for 15 years before the opportunity arose to leave the farm in 1990 and attend the Word of Life Bible College that just opened up in New Zealand. As Liz and I committed to Bible College we also committed to serve full time with Word of Life. We have been with them ever since. I love Discipleship and Evangelism so to be a part of this ministry is very fulfilling for me.

About Liz

I was raised in a Christian family and from as long as I can remember attended Church and Sunday School. I always knew the gospel but realised I needed to make my own personal choice about trusting Christ so when I was 12 I did that and was baptised soon after. Life wasn’t plain sailing and I went through some things that made life difficult as a teenager. I attended University following High school and did an Arts Degree and majored in languages. During this time at University I met my husband to be at a Christian Camp. When he raised the idea of serving fulltime in ministry I was happy to do the same. We left farming after 7 years of marriage and attended Word of Life Bible College in Nelson, New Zealand and committed to serving fulltime with them from that time on. We were not able to have children for ourselves but in 1992 (Daniel) and 1995 (Joshua) we were able to adopt 2 precious boys. They are a joy to us.

2 Cor. 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
