This spring I have the opportunity to travel to Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania to participate in Ethnos360's (formerly New Tribes Mission) Wayumi course! The goal of the course is to study the nature of pioneer missions. Veteran missionaries will explain how to effectively build relationships with, evangelize, and disciple people groups who have had no previous exposure to the Gospel. Here is what I will be able to learn: 1. Define God’s plan and promise from Genesis to Revelation for people from every people group to hear the Gospel and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 2. Comprehend the basic worldview and belief system of a typical unreached people group and how it relates to any false worldview and belief system in the world. 3. Describe the importance of building friendships and work relationships before being able to speak the language of the unreached people group. 4. Interact with the chronological teaching method approach to evangelizing people with no previous Bible exposure. 5. Explain what must be considered when discipling new believers in a cross cultural context. 6. Connect the concepts being learned to the cross cultural experiences of veteran missionaries who have evangelized, discipled, and planted churches among unreached people groups. 7. Practice basic language and culture acquisition learning activities with tribal representatives. 8. Engage in basic Bible translation exercises.
