Hi, I'm Adele Schenk. I minister in the Czech Republic.
WOL Czech is actively involved in evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training through camps, conferences, Bible clubs, outreach events, local church ministries, internships and school programs. In addition, we desire to aid church youth ministries and outreach efforts in order to increase ministry abilities to a lost nation. I am currently serving as the Camp Administrator, assisting our Camp Director in all details related to planning and running camps. On top of the behind the scenes work of organizing and managing, this also gives me a wonderful opportunity to connect with so many different people here in Czech - parents, campers, volunteers, etc. I am also part of our Internship and Discipleship Team, which focuses on training our volunteers and interns in the ministry and mentoring them as they grow in their relationship with Christ and in their ministry experience.

I grew up in a Christian household, attending church and hearing the Gospel on a regular basis. I remember praying a simple prayer when I was seven, mostly because I didn't want to go to hell. As I grew older, I struggled with assurance of my salvation because I don't remember the exact day and I don't remember what I said. I felt like maybe I didn't mean the prayer, that maybe I wasn't really saved. I fought the insecurity by searching the Bible for assurance. I read John 10:28-29, "And I (Jesus) give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand." I realized that I didn't need to know the exact day, I simply needed to trust that the Lord has saved me and will not let me go. It was so comforting to me! I realize over and over again that my salvation is not conditional on me at all!
At the age of 14, I felt God's call into the ministry. This was really when I began seeking a closer relationship with the Lord, and began to think about "what I wanted to be when I grew up". I knew I would be in full time ministry, I just didn't know where. I applied to Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) my senior year of high school and about the same time began American Sign Language classes at community college. It was March of my senior year (2014) that I was both accepted to WOLBI and was burdened for the Deaf community. I fell in love with their culture and their language and I was saddened to know that many of them have not had a chance to understand the Gospel.
My two years at the Bible Institute were some of the best of my life. I grew in my relationship with Christ and gained ministry principles and experience that work wherever I am. Part of the second year program is a class called Missions Reality. We raise support in the fall and then take a ten day trip in April to a different country. I went to Guatemala. It was an intense ministry opportunity, and I loved every minute of it. My favorite day was when we went up to the mountains in Coban to a Mayan village. We were praying that we would be able to connect with these people, because they don't speak Spanish and none of our team spoke Mayan. There was a little deaf girl up there and she could barely communicate. But it was so sweet to play with her and even though we shared no words, we shared God's love to that little girl. She changed my heart for world missions. I decided I would travel wherever the Lord calls, ministering to the Deaf community.
From 2018 to 2019 I was a Cross Cultural Intern (CCI) in the Czech Republic. I managed the kitchen during any and all Word of Life events, connected with the Deaf community, and assisted wherever needed. During that time the Lord placed a burden on my heart for the people of Czech and showed me how my strengths can be used here in the work He is doing. I have since become a full time missionary in the Czech Republic. The Lord is working in this country and I'm excited to be a part of it!
