Ministry Description

After 33 years in ministry in Porto Alegre, Southern Brazil (23 years with WOL and 10 years with Midnightcall Brazil) God is calling us in a new direction: Back to WOL and especifically to WOL-Austria: Supporting the team, assisting the director with administrative tasks, helping with communications and promotions! Yes, this is a big move and a great challenge - but in every step we are doing, we can see God's confirmation. We are looking for new friends and partners, as we have to double our financial support (from Brazil to Austria...), but we are confident, that God, who has called us in this ministry, will complete his plan! Our goal is to start in January 2027 in Austria to invest our lives in the Word of Life vision of reaching young Austrians with the Gospel of Christ! Thank you very much for your prayers!

About Conny

Hello, my name is Conny and I come from Germany. I grew up in a Christian family. As a young man, my father wanted to go to Australia as a missionary, but he wasn't allowed to due to health reasons. So he became a Bible teacher in Bible study groups and preached in different churches. At the age of ten, I decided to follow Jesus and dedicate my life to Him. When I was 15, my father died suddenly of a heart attack, and I couldn't understand why God had allowed this. I wanted an answer – and after three days, I was suddenly overcome with certainty: I wanted to do what my father wasn't allowed to do – serve God as a full-time missionary somewhere in the world! I first encountered WOL Germany through a youth camp in 1984 at Lake Starnberg. After attending Bible school in Brake (1987-1990), I was able to help out WOL there myself – and in 1992, my path led me to WOL in Southern Brazil, Porto Alegre. Later, through WOL I also met my wife Vasthy and we married at the WOL Camp in Recife.

About Vasthy

I'm from Northeast Brazil, the youngest of 8 siblings. I was born into a Christian home, and from a young age my parents taught me to love Jesus and the need to accept Him as my Savior. I don't remember when I made the decision; I was very young. I was baptized at age 11. At 14, I was going through a difficult time in my adolescence, without purpose, where I questioned God's love for me and the reason for my existence. At that time, I was invited to participate in the Word of Life Camp in Recife. There, I clearly heard the gospel and was reached and rescued by the Lord! At 22, I participated in a one-year evangelistic choir project from WOL-Brazil, called EMME, and there I made the decision to serve the Lord fully in ministry, wherever He placed me, and I continue to do so to this day, along with my family. God gave us our daughter Sarah (25) and our son Davi (20).
