Hi, I'm Dorina Morgan. I minister in Guatemala.
I serve here in Word of Life Guatemala in a couple of different capacities. My first priority is as the "executive secretary" to the director, Oscar Fuentes. I help with any kind of translation work, communication with the states, and anything that he needs done from an administrative standpoint. That includes finding things in the US that we need for the ministry here, arranging to purchase them and have them sent to Guatemala. My second official responsibility is with a program we have called CCM/TEAM. The CCM is a ministry training center and TEAM stands for Training in English and Ministry. I help by overseeing all that is the English aspect of that program. That involves deciding which materials we will use, planning the curriculum, and physically teaching the class. I am also looking for individuals willing to come and serve short or long-term by volunteering in the English program. In addition to those specific responsibilities, there are activities that all of the missionaries here are involved in - Bible Clubs, discipleship, sports marathons, conferences, camps, etc. and I am a part of all of that as well.

I grew up in church and attending a Christian school, and although I had "prayed a prayer" as a young child, as I grew older, I struggled with whether I was truly saved or not. I knew a lot about God, and I had memorized a lot of verses, but I knew something was missing. When I was 14, my pastor was preaching through the book of James, and he arrived at the verse that says, "thou believes that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." I started thinking, obviously Satan believes in God, and he's not going to heaven, so what is the difference between me and "a devil"? The pastor began to explain the difference between believing and knowing about God, and actually putting our trust in Him to save us. It's not enough to just know all about Him. I had to trust Him to personally save me from my sin. That night I did that, and at the same time, surrendered my life to what He would have for me. I had always been fascinated by missionary stories and involved in local missions. I went on my first foreign mission trip at the age of 18, and as I left to attend college, I felt God calling me to serve Him full-time. Unfortunately, I made some poor decisions, and although I continued to serve God in the US, I felt great remorse at having "missed out" on what I had believed God wanted me to do. Then, in a way that only God can do, He began to work in my life, to open doors that I didn't think anyone could open, and to show me that His will for my life right now is to serve Him in Guatemala.
