Ministry Description

Edward if responsible for ministry to the leaders in the Word of Life Local Church Clubs Ministry. This involves weekly club visits, preparing for and conducting leadership training meetings and conferences for club leaders, preparing for and conduction annual evangelistic outreaches for children and teens. In addition to this, he teaches bible lessons on a weekly basis in 3 local public school Word of Life Clubs. Edward is also privileged to be actively involved in a local church as an Elder/Pastor. This involves preaching and teaching the word of God on a weekly basis as well as church administration.

About Ed

The Lightbourne family have been serving in the islands of Bermuda with Word of Life since 1998.
Edward is of Bermuda and Caribbean origins and his lovely wife Socorro is of Hispanic American descent.

Edward is a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute and The School of Youth Ministries. It was in this ministry that Edward grew to love the Lord, and develop a passion for reaching youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord impressed on his heart the need of reaching future generations for Christ through Evangelism and Discipleship.

God has blessed us as a family in seeing many young people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ these past 16 years. He has stretched us beyond our comfort zone and caused us to mature in Him.

We thank God for the numerous prayers and friends who keep us on the mission field. The best is still yet ahead! We invite you to seek us out and become a partner with us in the ministry.

About Socorro

In 1987 when Ed and Socorro met at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga Tennessee. They were on different academic paths for the Lord's service, but caught the eye of each other.

After much courting & persuasion by Edward, they married in 1989 and settled in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. In 1990 God blessed them with their first born, a son, Stephen. Their stay in Chattanooga was short lived and in June of 1991 they relocated in Edward's home country of Bermuda. In December of that same year, God blessed them with their second born, a daughter, Samantha.
