Ministry Description

Word of Life Czech operates many ministries that include their summer and winter camps, local church ministries, teaching English as a second language, Bible clubs, outreach events, and many other opportunities. Evangelism and discipleship are heavily involved within these ministries to reach the lost and grow the youth's relationship with Christ. In addition, they desire to aid church youth ministries and outreach efforts in order to increase ministry abilities to a lost, yet open and receptive nation.

The Czech Republic (Czechia) has been an independent country since January 1993 since the result of the breakup of Czechoslovakia. They are one of the most atheistic countries in the world with more than seventy percent of the 10.8 million inhabitants claiming to have no association with any religion. Because of many years of living under communist control, it has negatively affected the population's thinking about God and religion.

About Emily

I came to know the Lord when I was pretty young at a Christian camp, but didn't grow my relationship with Him. In high school, I struggled a lot with addictions and questioned the goodness and existence of God. Because of my struggles in high school, I didn't want a relationship with God and was hoping to "escape" by going to a secular college. God closed a lot of doors during that time and that led me to going to the Word of Life Bible Institute (due to a friend making me apply). So many of my walls that I had built up had been broken down and during my second year at the Bible Institute, it all fell down. It's so hard to describe the freedom that I felt once I was able to open up. The shame, guilt, and burden I was holding onto was gone and I can only thank God for that.

I'm so thankful for all the Lord has done, is doing, and will do for me. He has given me the passion to share the Good News to others and the desire to disciple teen/college age girls. I've had the wonderful opportunity to be a youth leader for the past few years and have gotten to experience many other wonderful opportunities working in healthcare and living with my sister and best friend. Now God is calling me into another wonderful opportunity through Word of Life's Cross Cultural Internship to the Czech Republic. I know these next two years will be some of the hardest and most spiritually growing times that I will experience; but I am confident with the Lord and the wonderful team He has provided, I will be able to conquer those fears and enemies that I will face.
