Ministry Description

I am currently serving as a Camp Ministries Intern at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY! I have the opportunity to help further the message of the Gospel by helping to plan and run our summer and winter camps. Apart from our camp ministries, I get to partner with different local churches to plan and run youth or community outreach events, as well as planning and running Reverb (all-nighter evangelistic events) in the northeast. Through this internship, I hope to gain a variety of different leadership experiences in ministry, and to motivate students and campers to deepen their relationship with Jesus and take their next (or first) step with Him!

About Faith

I was raised by parents who loved the Lord and His Word and I honestly can't remember a time in my life when I did not know that Jesus died for my sins and rose from the grave. Despite this fact, it wasn't until I was 10 years old that I understood the relationship and heart aspect of salvation. It wasn't enough to know what Jesus had done for me, I needed to understand that the only way to new life and freedom from my sin was through a personal relationship with Him and place my faith in that truth. I was at a church camp a few hours away from my hometown in Pennsylvania when I heard the Gospel again and the Holy Spirit opened my heart to understand what I was missing. Ever since that night when I entered into a relationship with Jesus, the Lord has been continuously putting a passion and joy in my heart for growing deeper in my faith and sharing my faith with others. Camp played a huge part in the growth of this passion.
As I entered into middle school and high school, I began going to summer camp at Word of Life, first at the Ridge and then at the Island. What impacted me most while I was there was realizing that the same passion and excitement for the Gospel I had experienced when I was ten was the very foundation of the entire program, radiating especially from my counselors. After my first summer at the Island, I knew I wanted to go to the Bible Institute and be a counselor so I could have the chance to impact student's lives like my counselor had impacted mine. I served in Camp Crew at the Ranch & Ridge my junior and senior summers, and then after graduating high school I came to the BI as a freshman. Throughout my two years at the BI, I got to experience a variety of different ministries, but the one ministry that remained consistently at the front of my heart was camp. At the end of my second year, the Lord opened the door for me to enter into the Camp Ministry Internship and I gladly accepted the opportunity. I’m beyond excited to join the ministry that changed my life and drew me closer to Jesus, and I’m humbled that God would use me to help bring that same Good News to thousands of students.

“Would any one of you say to your slave who comes in from the field after plowing or shepherding sheep, ‘Come at once and sit down for a meal’? Won’t the master instead say to him, ‘Get my dinner ready, and make yourself ready to serve me while I eat and drink. Then you may eat and drink’? He won’t thank the slave because he did what he was told, will he? So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, ‘We are slaves undeserving of special praise; we have only done what was our duty.’” Luke 17:7-10
