About Gustavo

Personal Testimony – Gustavo Mujica

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on May 7, 1984. I grew up in a dysfunctional home and was not a practicing Catholic. During my youth and early adulthood, I lived far from God, seeking fulfillment in work, parties, drugs, and personal relationships. These things took the place in my heart that only God should occupy. As a result of my choices, I experienced conflicts, emptiness, and difficulties that affected many areas of my life. Although I tried to find purpose and happiness in what the world had to offer, nothing could truly satisfy the spiritual need in my heart.

In 2010, when I was 26 years old, I heard the Gospel for the first time. However, I rejected the message and continued living according to my own desires.

That same year, I met Raquel Araujo in a very unique way. We met in a hospital while both of us were accompanying our mothers to medical appointments. What seemed like an ordinary encounter became part of God's sovereign plan for our lives.

After about six months of friendship, we decided to get married. Looking back, we recognize that we acted with great immaturity and without the wisdom necessary to make such an important decision. We got married without truly knowing each other and while being unequally yoked spiritually. Our story is an example of how things should not be done. However, it is also a testimony of God's grace and mercy. Despite our mistakes, the Lord did not abandon us. Over time, He transformed our hearts, restored our marriage, and taught us how to build our home on biblical foundations. What began on the wrong foundation was rebuilt by God for His glory.

Between 2010 and 2016, I had several opportunities to hear the message of salvation, but I continued living apart from God. After six years of marriage, at the age of 32, I found myself overwhelmed by conflicts in my marriage and struggling with a strong desire for divorce. I had reached a point where I felt frustrated, empty, and without answers.

It was in the middle of that crisis that God spoke to my heart. During a study of Genesis chapters 1, 2, and 3, I came to understand God's original design for humanity, the reality of sin, and the need for a Savior. At the same time, passages such as John 1:12 and John 14:6 showed me that only through Jesus Christ could I have access to the Father and find the true hope I so desperately needed.

At that moment, I recognized my condition before God, repented of my sins, and placed my faith in Jesus Christ as my only and sufficient Savior. It was then that I was born again. God transformed my heart, changed my way of thinking, and began a work of restoration in my life, my marriage, and my family that continues to this day.

Since my conversion, God has given me a deep desire to know Him through His Word, grow in my relationship with Him, and live for His glory.

By God's grace, Raquel and I have witnessed His faithfulness in our family. Today, we celebrate 16 years of marriage, and God has blessed us with three children: Enyer Mujica, Thatiana Mujica, and Nathalia Mujica.

Looking back, I can clearly see God's hand guiding every stage of my life. What was once marked by sin, emptiness, and poor decisions has become a testimony of the transforming grace of Jesus Christ.

Preparing for Ministry

2018–2019

By God's grace, we answered His call to serve in the Great Commission full-time, with a strong desire to evangelize and disciple youth and adults through our local church in Mérida, Venezuela.

2020–2021

We were challenged to continue our training through online studies at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Argentina. This was a year of significant growth in our understanding and knowledge of God's Word.

2022–2023

The Lord allowed us to continue our preparation through in-person studies at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Mexico. The program provided a comprehensive approach focused on three key areas: Life, Study, and Ministry within the local church.

August 1, 2023

We were approved by the International Word of Life Board as missionaries of the organization.

December 31, 2023

We arrived in Costa Rica in response to God's call, with the conviction of dedicating our lives to reaching a new generation with the Gospel and strengthening the local church through evangelism, discipleship, and the teaching of God's Word.

Today

We continue moving forward with passion and determination, witnessing God's faithfulness in every stage of the journey. Our commitment is to take the message of salvation wherever He sends us, making disciples and serving the local church for the glory of God in obedience to the Great Commission.

"All glory be to God, who transforms lives, restores families, and uses imperfect vessels to accomplish His eternal purposes."

About Raquel

Personal testimony (Raquel Araujo de Mujica)

I grew up in a Christian home. My father was a pastor and my mother was a nurse. I have three older brothers. I am the youngest. From a very early age I heard the Word of God and was involved with frequent activities carried out in my local church. But it was in 2003 when I was thirteen years old that I understood the plan of salvation at a youth event, and I understood how great the love of God was by sending Jesus Christ to forgive my sins (Romans 5:8). The religious habits that I used to practice routinely in my life now made sense and had meaning.

In 2009, at the age of 19, during my time at college, I cooled down spiritually, which began as a result of a division that occurred in my local church and due to a lack of discipleship in my life. I let sin into my life and started doing things my way without taking into account the principles of God that I had learned. Of course this decision brought consequences to my life. While I was stuck in my sin and sadness, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit and confronted by the Word of God. I acknowledged that I had strayed from the right path and at that moment my family and brothers in the faith prayed for me. And in the year 2016, I returned to my Father's house, through a sister in faith, asking for forgiveness and mercy. And just like the story of the prodigal son, the Lord welcomed me with open arms (Luke 15:11-28). And from that moment I began a restoration process in my life to heal all the areas that had been affected.
