Hi, I'm Gracie Immink. I minister in South Korea Mainland.
My responsibilities during the week here at the WOLKO center usually are in two main areas: teaching English to the SYME students, and being involved in our Student Ministry outreach at local schools.
SYME is where individuals can attend classes at our WOLKO center Tuesday thru Friday and work on their English reading/writing, conversational skills, and Biblical knowledge (some being introduced to the Gospel for the first time). I love being able to build relationships with these students, and not only help them learn, but learn things from them as well.
WOLKO's Student Ministry outreach is where we hold a Biblical themed program in a local school for the students (usually middle school/high school). We have a time of: worship, games, a message, scripture memory, and a counseling/discussion time! This time has been teaching me many different things about loving those around me, and how to continuously turn to God throughout life.

Hi! My name is Gracie Immink, and I am from Holland, Michigan USA. I grew up hearing the Bible and the messages within it all my life, and I was saved when I was 6 or 7 years old while attending VBS at my church. When I was younger I never had the desire to do any sort of full-time mission work, my vision of missions was only for “ultra-spiritual” people.
However, my view of missions greatly changed in January of 2019. I was at a work conference, and we had a guest speaker from a missions organization who was sharing a little bit of information of how his team goes into war-torn countries and gives provisions to the people affected by the wars going on around them. As he was sharing his testimony, I had the sudden thought “You need to do that.”
Fast forward through many details and things that only make sense as God’s greater plan at work, I ended up signing up to come to South Korea in July of 2019, with the Word of Life Student Fusion team. Our team began working with SYME and their summer English camp in Pyeontaek for just under a month. During this experience, I fell in love with the program, and with ministry work, especially in South Korea.
After going back home, I was serious about praying and considering the direction God was leading me in my life. I decided after much prayer to attend the WOLBI, (Word of Life Bible Institute) on Jeju Island, South Korea to further my knowledge of God and grow deeper in my understanding of His word. At the end of the first semester, I was challenged to prayerfully think about where God was leading me after my WOLBI year was done. For me, SYME was always on my heart since serving with them in the summer of 2019. After prayer and some lengthy conversations with family and friends, I applied to work in the mission field as an English teacher and missionary intern with SYME. God brought things together and in September of 2021, I started serving alongside the WOLKO team! I can’t wait to see where God leads me next on this exciting journey!
