Ministry Description

My day to day responsibilities while serving in Hungary include teaching theology, and introduction to Christian education as the resident Bible teacher in the Bible institute. I also oversee spiritual life along with the oversight of student life. Kris spends much of her time mentoring young ladies, writing newsletters for the WOL ministry and the National director. Unofficially, Kris is “campus mom”. Together we oversee care of the interns along with discipling and mentoring the students on campus. Much of this happens in small group ministry as we host the students.

About Jeff

I, Jeff, was first exposed to the gospel when I was ten years old. I was taken to church as part of that church’s bus ministry in upstate New York. The impact of coming from a broken home had much to do with my early resistance to the gospel, but I knew my need of Jesus and I went through the motions of “accepting Jesus” into my life to fit into the church’s expectations and feel accepted.
I carried a lot of hurt and anger as a result of my parents divorce and eventual death of my father when I was 13 years of age. Most of my teen years was spent going back-and-forth between the church and the world. At the age of 16, I believe that I made a genuine decision to trust in Jesus Christ, but struggled with surrendering in full obedience. I was searching for genuine love, and thought I could find it in relationships with other girls. In fact, I tried to find satisfaction in all that the world offered, but found only emptiness.
God would use the testimony of a missionary with ALS that I took care of to move me toward surrender to Christ and missionary service. It was while I was at Boot Camp in the United States Navy, that I came to the end of my self, and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.
God used that testimony and a final letter from him before his death to grab a hold of my heart. I knew that Jesus not only wanted my heart, but he wanted my life to serve him. When I was medically discharged from the navy, I enrolled in Bible college to study for ministry. I knew that the Lord wanted me in Missions specifically, but it would take years for that to happen. I would go onto graduate and spent many years in church ministry and Christian education.
In 1999, God laid the country of Romania on my heart as a place of service, and we were accepted with ABWE to serve there as church planters. Sadly, we had to return from the field after only two years of service, but God had given me a love for missions, and in particular, central and eastern Europe. We continue to be involved in supporting missions and being involved with our local church. Vocationally, I would continue teaching in Christian schools, and eventually becoming an administrator in the public school system. My heart, however, was still in missions and so I left education to work with a small mission for a few years before returning to Christian school education. For the last six years, I have taught one course at Word of Life Bible Institute in Hungary. We had anticipated retiring this year when we were asked by administration to consider becoming full-time teachers there in Hungary. After consideration and prayer, we accepted the invitation to come full time and intended on being self supporting missionaries. With a change in circumstances, we have found that we need to raise part of our support. We know that God is faithful to provide when He calls, and so, we are grateful for this opportunity to serve in Hungary.

About Kris

I accepted Christ as my Savior at the young age of 4. I then at the age of 16 dedicated my life to full time ministry. I had the opportunity to grow up in a pastors home where God was the center focus of our home.

God has given Jeff and me 3 children and 7 grandkids and has been very faithful to us over the years.

I Samuel 12:24 Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
