Hi, I'm Javaris Richardson. I minister in South Korea Jeju Island.
Here in Korea with Word of Life Korea (WOLKO), my position is the International Admissions Counselor at WOLBI Jeju. Ultimately, I am here to glorify the Lord through my role in recruitment to train and equip disciples in God’s Word and in practical ministry – to then go out and further make disciples throughout the world (Matthew 28:1-20). Looking forward, I seek to maximize our efforts in recruitment and all the admissions team does for our ministry to reach more through the students who join us each year.
Primarily, my duties include:
--> Recruiting. A big part of the role of admissions is going out and spreading the word about WOLBI Jeju and all about our program. This includes going on recruitment trips to partner schools, giving campus tours to visitors, managing our online systems (ex. Website), as well as using other creative ways to open the Bible Institute to those around the world.
--> Enrolling. After students have decided to come to WOLBI Jeju, it is my honor and privilege to help them go through all the steps to acceptance and enrollment.
--> Preparing. Leading up to student arrivals, the admissions department continues to prepare students for their year at the Bible Institute through regular updates and helpful information. From visa processing to flight plans and packing lists, I am their go-to person for help!
Additionally:
I am also expecting to be WOLBI Jeju the PE Instructor. Leading the Physical Education course for the year, I will be teaching and guiding the students every week in physical exercise and health projects in hopes of them taking away more than just temporary growth but a lifelong understanding of health and fitness.

I was saved in November 2017 during my senior year of high school. Just the year before that, I had just switched to this high school, which is an international Christian school. And moving to this school was a way of God pulling me back into Christian life and especially pulling me back to Him. That junior year, I was given the opportunity to go on a missions trip to the Philippines and that trip was a huge eye-opener on what a Christian is really meant to do and how Christians should be serving others. And the teachers that came along were very supportive and helpful in encouraging me to make this decision. Continuing on into the fall semester of my senior year, my school had its annual Spiritual Emphasis Week. Some guests from the Voice of the Martyrs organization came and spoke on how all Christians should be living their lives for the Lord. During the last meeting, the pastor had invited the students to just make the decision themselves and raise their hands...and I did make that decision.
From that point, I wanted to learn more about God, to live according to the plan He has for me. So after quite a struggle in choosing my next step, I chose to go to Word of Life to spend a year learning God’s Word and building a strong foundation for the life ahead of me. And it opened the door for me to begin my journey in the Lord’s work as an intern-staff member at Word of Life in South Korea. I have already served for one full year here as the Ministry Assistant and Momentum Coordinator and have continued for a second year as a staff member for the Bible Institute.
