Ministry Description

Jeremy is currently serving as the Business Administrator for Word of Life Korea mainland ministries. He helps actively with Student Ministries, with Bible Clubs and Camps in local churches and schools. He is also the interim pastor for the English ministry at a local Korean church, preaching and teaching. Elsbeth is active in the community, counseling, and leading the women's ministry at our church. People love connecting with us because of our kids or just to practice their English, and we are forming some really great relationships. It is a privilege to frequently share the Gospel and to aid in helping teach the next generation to share that same hope of the Gospel with others. Praise God for the good He is doing in and through our lives. His fruit is the best kind!

About Jeremy

I grew up with Christian parents. My father was a pastor and later a chaplain in the US Army. My parents shared the gospel with me when I was 7 years old (1992), living in Germany. I was overwhelmed by the fact that I was not a part of God's family (Romans 8:14-17). The Bible's message of adoption compelled me (1 John 3:1). I knew that commitment to God involved a life change, and I experienced that new life (2 Cor. 5:17). I was baptized on 5 April, 1992 by my dad who explained the significance of baptism. As a believer, I feel that the Spirit has guided me (Psalms 25:4-9). I have learned the importance of grace and the danger of sin. There is a peace that passes all understanding. There is a God who has given us hope. He has loved us in a perfect way. He is good. He is trustworthy. When I think of the grace I've seen in my own life, I am compelled to tell others. I do not say that Christians are perfect, but that we depend on a perfect sacrifice (Jesus the Christ) to intercede on our behalf at God's throne. I want people to know about the hope that we have in Christ, that one day all things will be made new (Revelation 21:1-8). My desire is to see the light of this Good News break through the darkness, wherever that darkness may be.

About Elsbeth

I was blessed to be raised in a loving family who taught me about God and the incredible truth of His salvation, which I accepted into my heart at a young age. However I have always struggled with “people-pleasing” and have had to learn the hard way that this is a shaky foundation to build life on (2 Corinthians 10:12). As I grew into a young adult I found a great emptiness inside as I tried to live a “perfect” life (Luke 18:9-14). My life was just a false front, hiding my sins and struggles. It was God’s gracious gift that, as I became sick at heart over this reality, the truths I had been faithfully taught did not return void (Isaiah 55:10-11). Rather they took root and my heart began to long to please the Lord who had done so much for me. I stopped running in circles trying to please people and instead rested in the fact that my Savior both lived the perfect life I could not and took my deserved punishment, winning for me a place in His kingdom (Psalm 103:2-5). The same power that allowed Him to crush death is mine for living each day. A lifetime is not long enough to give in His service, an eternity not long enough to glorify His name (Psalm 73:25-26).
My service for God is lived out in many ways, but most important is the role of wife and mother.
We have four children, Loralyn Beth, born March 3, 2013, Paul Michael, born July 7, 2014, Estelle Jane, born December 1, 2015, and Mae Liliana, born July 4, 2017. They keep us busy and bring much laughter and fun into our lives! God has given me a sacred calling to the roles of guardian and gardener, protecting our home from the darkness of the world (Philippians 2:15) and nurturing seeds of truth in little hearts, waiting for the day they take root (Isaiah 38:19). Youth is a key time to seek God and embrace His ways (Ecclesiastes 12:1). There is an urgency and responsibility to reach the young souls both in our family and those our ministry will touch in South Korea (Psalm 89:1). My desire is to create a home that is both a haven of rest and peace and is also a brilliant testimony of the gospel that transforms lives (Proverbs 14:1, 24:3-4)!

"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."-Daniel 12:2-3
