Ministry Description

The focus of Word of Life Pará is to reach the “river people” who live along the Amazon River. There are over 33,000 communities without access to the Gospel. Our strategy is to evangelize and disciple the youth from the urban centers of Brazil, then train them to become pioneering missionaries in our four-year missionary training institute, and then help coordinate our graduates, in conjunction with their home churches, as they plant new churches in the river communities. We reach about 10,000 young people each year with our camps, public school, Christian school and Bible clubs ministries. We have over 150 full-time students in our institute. Our missionaries are currently planting churches in over 100 different communities through the boat ministry.

About Josh

I grew up in this ministry in Brazil and was saved when I was 7 years old. I understood that there was a sin problem in my life I couldn't solve and it left me eternally separated from God. God loving us sent His Son Jesus to this earth who lived a sinless life yet died on the cross for my sins and by believing he paid my debt I know I am reconciled with God. After I graduated from High school in Brazil I went to the Bible institute in New York for for 3 years and served on the production team. In my second year I met Hilary my wife and after my internship year chased her to Maine where we got married and have started our family of soon to be 5 kids! For the last 10 years I have served at Central Church in various operational roles but primarily in production. I've always felt the call to go back to Brazil and be a part of the operations of the ministry in Pará and we feel God has opened that door for us now and we are excited to be stepping into it!
