Ministry Description

This year, I am part of the Biblical Counseling Internship (BCI). The counseling center offers biblical counseling services to the students and staff on campus while also offering training to the interns. In my case, I will be able to start counseling while also helping the Counseling Center in different administrative tasks and attending different events.
There are also two trip opportunities that are offered to interns. In February, there is a conference in Indiana on Counseling that the interns attend every year. It is an opportunity to learn more about counseling and to make connections with other people who are working in ministry, specifically in counseling. The other opportunity that interns are offered is to join Joe Schenke, the director of the Counseling Center, on one of his trip to another WOL school. The purpose is to be able to gain more experience and connections.

About

Having grown up in a Christian family, I've always known about God. However, it wasn't until I was 11 that I understood what Jesus had done for me. At that time, I realised that I couldn't live a life where Jesus and what He did on the cross where not involved. I understood that He was to be Lord over my life, but I had a hard time growing in my relationship with Him and understand how to apply biblical truths to my life.
In 2023, I had the opportunity to attend the Word of Life Bible Institute on the Jeju campus. Coming into this, I thought that I knew a lot about the Bible and Christian life but I quickly realised that there were a lot of things that I didn't understand. I was completely amazed at how great God is but I was also confronted with my sinful nature. I quickly started to be overwhelmed by my depravity and I started to loose hope. However, I had the opportunity to meet with my dean of women and through many meetings and discussions, she helped me see what Jesus had really done on the cross and the hope that comes with that.
From that point on, I started learning how to truly live out my relationship with God and I started to grow a passion for ministry. My desire was to study biblical counselling and become a full time missionary. In 2025, God opened the door for me to join Davis College in NY where I was able to finish my bachelor's in Biblical Counseling. This year, I have been accepted in BCI program where I will be able to gain more experience in counseling and share my love and passion for Christ.
