Ministry Description
Word of Life African Region has ministries in; Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Mozambique, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe. The Regional Office’s goal is to reach countries such as; Ghana, DRC, Chad, Botswana, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Zambia. The emphasis is discipleship of young people and training of leaders in local churches. Alongside that are Bible Clubs which are an essential tool to following up on the young people whom we evangelize. In the recent four years, the African Bible Institute has been an avenue for instilling Biblical foundations in the hearts young people. With forums such as missionary trainings, we do believe that we better prepare those who commit to serving with us to reaching souls for eternity.
Country Description
The land of stunning mountains, beautiful waters and world’s biggest wild life is also home of ten Word of Life centers! The second largest continent in the world, in size and population, occupies approximately 11,7 squares miles of the world (a 1/5 earth’s total land mass). 1.2 billion people inhabit the continent. The top ten countries that contribute to increase in the population include Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, the Sudan, South Africa, Algeria and Congo. There are over 1400 different tribes and languages spoken.
The media has marked the continent as the “source of most migrants” and the sub-Saharan recorded by health organizations as a place with the largest number of infant mortality.
The continent has also been dubbed as a young continent, with two fifths of the population in the 0 – 14 bracket and one percent in the 15-24 bracket.
On any given Sunday, there are more people who attend church in Africa than anywhere else in the world. Church attendance and the ‘reverence’ for Sunday is a discipline instilled from childhood. Christianity in Africa is said to be a mile longer and an inch deeper, changing the emphasis of biblical founded churches and organizations from evangelism to discipleship. Discipleship has been and is the very DNA of the ministry of Word of Life all over the world.
