Get to Know Matthew Nesgoda

Ministry Description

The Revive Band is centered on leading worship through music at local churches, christian schools, and youth groups. I have the privilege of being the drummer for this amazing ministry and I couldn't be happier about it. We are so much more than musicians though. The thing we do is establish relationships with the people we meet to bring the life-saving truth of the gospel to them. Beyond that, we spend a lot of our time encouraging those who have already put their faith in Christ to get active about their relationships with God and become servants of Jesus Christ as we all have been commissioned to be. Our goal is to see every student, church member, and person we meet take their "Next Step" with Jesus, coming to saving faith and growing closer to the God who loves them. We love to serve the people we meet and every year we get to see hundreds of people accept Christ as their savior.

This summer I will also have the personal privilege of also being a Unit Leader at the Word of Life Family Lodge. That means I will disciple a group of Word of Life Bible Institute students as they learn how to become leaders and serve others for the sake of sharing the gospel. It's a responsibility that honestly intimidates me but I am extremely excited for what God has in store for me this summer.

About Matthew

The reason I'm so excited to be a part of what God is doing through this band is because of what God has done in my life. I grew up knowing about Jesus and believing that He exists, but never really grasping what that meant to me and how important that was. As a result of that, life gradually took a turn for the worse and I ended up not being able to really understand what the point of life was at all. I was depressed and pretty deep in sin, knowing who God was but not really caring about anything enough to do anything about it. This all changed my senior year of high school when I attended a youth retreat called footsteps. It was there that I learned that God did more than just existed, He genuinely cared for me and wanted a relationship with me. That is when my life truly changed. Sometime later I would start school at the Bible Institute, where my life would then change completely. I now live a life that I know has purpose and I want to see every person I have the chance to minister to on Revive have that same life saving, life-changing grace that God brought to me.
