Within Word of Life I serve in marketing and communication. Here I use my gifts of creativity, photography, and graphic design to grow connections with churches and get them connected to Word of Life camps and resources. Additionally, I am involved in evangelism and discipleship with Word of Life and my local church.

About

My name is Maria Herrera, I am 23. I was born into a Christan family in Panamá, I have 2 older sisters (Yousee y Carolina) and a younger brother (Abel). I trusted Christ as my savior at the age of 10. My older sister (Carolina) took me to a Word of Life camp. We were invited by 2 Word of Life missionaries (Nedelka y Luis Cano). I was a camper and my sister was a volunteer. My counselor shared the Gospel with me and I understood was a sinner, I recognized what Jesus did is the only thing that could save me; I decided to trust in him as my savior.
After this, my family grew closer to the church, my siblings (Carolina y Abel) and my parents began to attend our local church. After a while my father stopped attending but my siblings and mother continued to go to church. When I was 12, I began to be mentored by one of the other Word of Life missionaries (Yin Di Luo), and I began to grow much more in my faith. I began to develop biblical knowledge and convictions.
When I was 13, I was at a campfire service at a Word of Life camp. During that week God had been moving in my heart to fully surrender my life to Him. I decided to throw my stick in the fire, I prayed: "take my life and do what you will, I will follow and obey you”. I assure you God took my prayer very literally, because from that moment the Lord began to work on my heart more than ever before, beginning a passion for evangelism, children’s ministry, and the youth of my generation. When I was 16, I began to serve in my local church with the worship team and kid's VBS.
After I graduated from high school. I went to the Word of life bible Institute in Argentina to study God's word and grow in my faith that I may reach Panamá for Jesus.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! ~ Romans 10:14-15
