WOLBI Jeju is a cross-cultural launching pad for training and sending young people into the most unreached part of the globe with the Gospel--into Asia. Food is a big part of WOLBI Jeju life. Food service plays a major role in student life and discipleship on campus because students eat three times every day AND most students do some kitchen duty. If food service is not good, then it has a big impact on campus life and students' ability to learn and be discipled. It is a great opportunity for someone who has the skills and desire to use food in ministry.

Details

Travel

You are responsible for your own airfare to and from Korea.

Visa

The chef would come on a 90-day tourist visa and consequently need to leave the country every 90 days to reset that visa.

Food

As a chef, you are able to eat meals free at the WOLBI cafeteria.

Housing

The chef would be staying on campus either with other single staff or in a small efficiency apartment. The cost of rent and utilities is quite minimal. As long as the incoming chef is sharing requests with prayer partners, WOLBI will help meet this need.

Transportation

It would be good for you to get an International Driving Permit before coming in order to use a WOLBI vehicle personally and for work.

What To Bring

Your housing will be pretty well furnished. It is good to bring a laptop or tablet computer for work. If you wear large clothes or shoes, you may want to bring those with you, as they may be hard to purchase in Korea.

What To Wear

Dress for safety and hygeine in the kitchen. Outside of the kitchen casual, clean and modest clothing.

Qualifications

Someone with good recommendations and cooking experience. It is also very helpful if the chef is able to drive a 12-passenger van.

Other

This can be an ideal opportunity for service for an active retired couple. If you have grandchildren, there are several breaks during the year, when you could go see them:) Or you could join a ministry trip with students. Contact rhondanicholes@wol.org for more information or for an interview.
