Belize’s international airport is officially known as the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport. All international flights to Belize arrive here. As of 2025, the Belize City airport was serviced by the following airlines: Alaska Airlines • American Airlines • Delta • JetBlue • Southwest • Sun Country* • Tropic Air • United • WestJet • Air Canada* • Copa • TAG. Some Airlines may have a seasonal schedule, usually from December to April each year.
All travelers must have a passport that is valid 6 months beyond your departure date. Most visitors, including those from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, will NOT need a visa prior to arrival. The immigration officer will provide up to a 30-day visitor's visa. If you stay longer than 30 days, you will need to renew your visa that has a fee of $100USD. Airport fees and all Travel taxes are included in the airfare. Three main meals per day will be served to the team. These meals will be a mixture of local cuisine dishes and potentially, a few American-style dishes. Kindly help us identify team members who have allergies or dietary restrictions before the trip. At WOL we will do our best to accommodate these needs and all food and drink provided by WOL during trips is safe to eat. Purified drinking water will be provided for the team every day and for the cooks to use while preparing meals. We recommend if you have more severe dietary restrictions or allergies, that you bring along appropriate snacks, especially special snacks if you are gluten or sugar free.
Word of Life Belize understands the need of a goodnight rest! Your lodging will be comfortable, clean and restful. We can personalize and meet the needs of your team as soon as we connect. Housing will be at the property to reduce the trip cost but good accommodations are still in progress. The trip budget does cover the lodging at the camp but not in hotel in the capital if needed. The hotel is 25 minutes from the property and 5 minutes from the WOL office. Rooms will be paid in Belize by each person staying in the hotel. Rooms vary in capacity and bed size (standard and queen) and we will help you arrange these accommodations. Average charge per person is US$30 to $40 per night double occupancy.
Word of Life Belize will provide transportation to/from the Airport and Ministry Sites. They use 12 passenger vans so the team size has a limit of 24 at this time. We can increase the team size by renting another van. FYI: gasoline is $6.00 per gallon.
Word of Life Belize Camp property is in its early stages of development. The tools and supplies at the moment are limited. They do have a supply but there are things they still need. We would love to connect and explore different ways how you can partner and make this opportunity of growth a reality. There are supplies that seem to be in short supply at the hardware stores so you might be asked to bring these with you.
The climate is generally tropical, with daily weather typically averaging around 75 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit and very humid. Pronounced wet and dry seasons are consistent each year, although the intensity of these seasons varies by region within the country. We recommend sunscreen, bug spray and appropriate/comfortable clothing. Church dress code is "business/casual" (khaki pants or nice jeans and polos for men. Skirt/blouse, dress or slacks for ladies. No shorts for guys or gals.) For foot wear we recommend tennis shoes, or comfortable sandals. Don't forget your hats, caps and water bottles. At the camp there are tiny sand flies that are hard to see and their bite can hardly be felt. They don't start itching until the next day and last about a week. As of yet we've not found a good repellant to keep them off. The best way to avoid these little guys from biting is to wear long light colored thin pants (for the heat), socks up past your ankles and even very light long sleeve shirts. Once you have been there you will understand. Mosquitoes, sand and black flies are sometimes bad and bug spray with high deet helps but might consider making your own bug spray using this repellant mixture: Avon "Skin-So-Soft" as a base then add tea tree and Citronella oils. I'm not sure of the amount you add. Remember you can always add more but you can't take it away. Mosquitoes don't like this mixture but I'm not sure about the flies. Your friends may not get too close as well! Here's one you might try. Vitamin B-1 is also known to help keep mosquitoes off so start taking this everyday three weeks before your travel dates to help. Once you open the bottle and smell it you'll know why the insects stay away.
These work trips are designed for everyone to attend. A love for the Lord to serve and a willingness to be blessed are what we are looking for. If you can do these things, you qualify! This trip is a great one to take your whole family or church and enjoy serving together. If you are staying at the WOL FL RV park you might see Bruce Bradford there or email any of these men: RonMorton@wol.org, BruceBradford@wol.org, TerryWisser@wol.org or RRSimonds@wol.org
Disclaimer for Word of Life Overseas Work Trips Our scheduled work trips are contingent on a few things: • having the number of team members necessary to fulfill the mission of the trip • safety in the country for our group • Word of Life successfully raising the necessary funds for projects and materials required during this trip. In the event that sufficient funds are not raised, the trip may be postponed until adequate funding becomes available. We strongly recommend not purchasing your airline tickets too early or until the trip host gives the OK. It is recommended you purchase airline ticket insurance when booking your airline ticket to protect against unforeseen changes or cancellations. Today most airline tickets are non-refundable. If for some reason you can not go on the trip, your "In Country" trip cost you have paid will remain in your individual trip account and can be applied to future trips. These funds do not expire and will be available for your future ministry involvement with Word of Life. Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we work together to make an eternal impact.
