Ministry Description

During my year in Panama, the plan, Lord willing, is to work at the camp assisting the maintenance manager in upkeep and expansion of the camp’s facilities. The team has some exciting dreams for the camp in the future, so I do not doubt that I will be kept very busy. In addition, I plan to help with the camps during camp season and serve at the local English-speaking church to help lead worship and work with the youth group. There is also potential to do some ministry with indigenous peoples nearby, which I am really hoping to participate in. God is doing great things in Panama, and I am so excited to join in the work there.

About Peter

I had the blessing of being raised by Christian parents, but I knew I had to make it my own. I remember one night when I was young, I was thinking about what happens after death, and I wanted to be sure I would end up in heaven. That night, I asked Jesus to save me. From that moment, it has been my desire to obey and follow Jesus. For the past several years, missions has had a strong pull on my heart. God has given me the desire to see the gospel reach people around the world who so desperately need it. Up until recently, though, my direct involvement in international missions had taken a hiatus. March 2024, I was able to go down to Panama on a short-term work trip with a team from my church. Going into this trip, I was seeking nothing other than to be led by God and to adjust my priorities to focus on what truly matters here in life. While on this trip, I continually sought God and his direction in my life. Missions was definitely on the table as an option, but I was not necessarily expecting to be led to Panama. Halfway through this trip, a few conversations occurred, and before I knew it, the director of Word of Life Panama had invited me to spend a year down in Panama. After multiple confirmations that this is what God would have for me, I made a decision about a month after returning home to spend a year in Panama.
