About Rachel

Hi! I’m Rachel and I am a junior studying Aerospace engineering at Purdue. I was saved in seventh grade on a camping trip in Tennessee, and was baptized soon after. Having attended a Christian high school, I thought I understood everything about Christianity, but looking back I see how I entered college with a lot of doubts about God, His people, and His church. After a semester of teaching me about dependence, God showed me what a healthy church community could look like. God has been so faithful to show me how to make Him the center of my life, whether that is through letting go of bitterness, choosing to commit and submit to a local church, and learning to hold my plans for my future loosely. And speaking of holding future plans loosely, I have decided to spend this summer serving the church in Taiwan.

While I still love everything Aerospace, I have grown to simultaneously love working at my ministry-centered apartment complex and serving on leadership for my church’s college ministry. God has given me opportunities to dive into His word with students ranging from youth aged girls from my church to college-aged peers, and the goodness of the gospel continues to humble me in those conversations every day. For these reasons, I am looking to learn more about how I can serve the church with the last summer before I graduate. While it is scary to not know what desires He will continue to grow, God knows exactly where He is leading me and I trust that His plan for my life is so much better than mine. Please join me in praying that I would trust in His plan daily as I travel to Taiwan, and that no matter what comes next, I would trust that He is shaping my future in ways that will make me more like Him.
