Learn more about the ministry in Kenya.
I was 14 years old when I first heard the gospel during an open-air evangelism. The message was very clear to me as the pastor shared from Romans 3:23. In that moment, I realized that I was lost. Before then, I had been living a reckless life—full of guilt and hopelessness—and I knew that God was not pleased with the way I was living.
The Holy Spirit convicted me of my sins and showed me my need to receive Jesus Christ into my heart. At that moment, I surrendered my life to Jesus, and I was saved. Jesus Christ removed my guilt and filled my heart with hope and peace. Later, I was introduced to a discipleship class, and since then I have continued to grow in my relationship with Christ.
God called me into ministry many years ago, and since that time my life has been shaped by a deep love for His Word and a burden for the next generation. I began serving in my local church, where I was entrusted with leadership as a house group chairperson, and later given opportunities to lead youth Bible studies and engage in school ministry. Through these early experiences, God confirmed His calling on my life and grew my passion for young people.
In His grace, God allowed me to attend Bible school, where my understanding of Scripture deepened and my desire to serve Him wholeheartedly was strengthened. As I continued in ministry, my heart increasingly turned toward young people. I longed to see them encounter Christ personally and be equipped to reach their own generation with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Over the years, I have witnessed God transform the lives of many young people through salvation, discipleship, and service, especially through Christian camps and Bible study programs. I have seen broken lives restored, faith ignited, and young believers grow into committed followers of Christ. These experiences have confirmed my calling and revealed a growing hunger among Kenyan youth for Bible study and genuine spiritual growth.
God has placed a strong burden on my heart to reach the youth of Kenya with the gospel of Jesus Christ. My desire is to see young people grounded firmly in God’s Word and empowered to live out their faith boldly in their schools, churches, and communities. I am especially passionate about training and mentoring youth pastors and youth leaders who will faithfully shepherd and disciple the next generation.
I have served in ministry for 23 years, including 20 years in children’s ministry, 17 years in youth ministry and Bible study leadership, and 5 years as a pastor. Through each season, God has continued to shape my character, deepen my dependence on Him, and strengthen my commitment to raising godly leaders among the youth of Kenya. I remain grateful for His calling and eager to continue serving Him wherever He leads.
My name is Janet Muthoni, the second born in a family of seven. I was born into a Christian family where my parents were believers, and attending church every Sunday was part of our normal life. Church became a routine for me—something I did because it was expected. For a long time, I believed that going to church meant I was right with God, and I never stopped to examine my own heart.
Everything began to change when I joined high school. In my first year, I attended a weekend challenge where the message was centered on God’s deep and unconditional love for us. As the sermon was preached, my heart was deeply stirred. For the first time, I clearly realized that even though I had grown up in church, I was living in sin and had no personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
In that moment, I encountered God’s love in a very personal way. At the age of 16, I made the decision to surrender my life to Jesus Christ. That decision marked a turning point in my life. Jesus changed my heart, gave me a new desire to live for Him, and filled me with purpose and hope.
After receiving Christ, my life took a new direction. I became a Christian Union leader in high school and later served in the worship ministry at church. Today, I serve together with my husband as a full-time missionary. God has placed a deep burden in my heart for young people, and He has called me to disciple them to live lives that honor Him and fulfill the Great Commission.
