Ministry Description

I will be working full time with the team in South Africa. I am super excited to go and minister to the country that needs Jesus. I will be working with the staff there helping run camps, teaching Bible lessons and counseling the campers. Another opportunity that I have is participating in going out and doing evangelism with the team. I also will be helping with the two mission trips, one to Mozambique and another one to Zimbabwe. I will have the opportunity to learn how to use social media to help promote Word of Life South Africa.

About Emma

My name is Emma Wilkerson. I was born in Newburgh, Indiana. I have been blessed with two parents who love the Lord very much. I am the youngest of two. My parents did a wonderful job of helping us take our next steps in our faith. I would not be here today if it were not for my parents showing the grace and love of God to me. They pushed me to always look for ways to grow my faith.

I was saved at five years old and grew up in the church, but never followed the Lord. I did not have a relationship with the Lord till I was in my Junior year of high school which was when I felt Lord grab a hold of my heart. I struggled with placing my identity in people and caring with what they thought about me. I was seeking their approval instead of God’s approval. Through the grace and mercy of God, I was able to see that I am worthy of being one of God's children and my identity is found in Christ. It was in my Senior year of high school that I found Christ again and committed my life to Him. Since coming back to the Lord, I have felt the call of missions on my heart. In 2021, I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to the state of Louisiana and I saw the impact of serving people with the mindset of sharing the gospel with them. This trip was when I felt the Lord calling me to missions. I knew that I wanted to grow my faith and learn all I could because I wanted to go to the mission field. That is when I found Word of Life Bible Institute.

The two years that I have spent at Word of Life have been a time of growing and stretching for me. I have learned so much about the love of God and the patience of God. I have been able to learn more about what is to have a relationship with Christ. These two years have shown me what it is like to walk beside Christ. Seeing how much the body of Christ wants to help each other grow in their faith is why I want to help others grow in their faith. I have taken my next step with Jesus, and I want to help others do that too. I have been able to watch so many campers come to Jesus, and this has shown me how important it is to reach young people. I am excited to get to South Africa and minister to the kids and young adults there. I am eager to see the Lord work in the country of South Africa!
