Get to Know Jaymee Lewis

Ministry Description

I get the awesome opportunity to join the ministry in Word of Life South Africa by coming alongside the missionaries that are currently serving there, reaching their region with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I get the honor of helping them restart their Discipleship Training Center (DTC) ministry. Some of the other ministries that I will be involved in other types of ministry including camps, bible clubs, and soccer ministry.

About

I grew up going to church with my family every Sunday and Wednesday while serving with them in different capacities. I knew many Bible verses and what the gospel was from a very young age. If someone had asked me what the gospel was, I would've said something like, "God is perfect and we are not. Because of this we need a Savior and Jesus is that, Savior. Jesus lived a perfect life because He is God and died for my sins. If I believe that and accept Jesus into my heart I can go to heaven." At about the age of five I accepted Jesus into my life!

Although I was saved, I didn't know what it looked like to grow in one's faith or how to have a relationship with Jesus. This led to me trying to find my identity in other things rather than in Christ. In the fall of my senior year of high school, I felt like my life didn't have a purpose. The world that I so desperately wanted to fit into was vain and meaningless. In what seemed like a "light bulb moment" I dedicated my life to serving and honoring the Lord and I have not looked back since then.

My first step of physical obedience to the Lord was attending the Word of Life Bible Institute in New York. There I gained a solid foundation in bible and theology. Through that knowledge I formed a love for the Lord that I had never experienced before. I also got the opportunity to learn how to be the hands and feet of Jesus through different types of ministries. Since being at Word of Life, a passion for global missions has grown inside of me, to share the gospel until the whole earth hears!

1 Corinthians 15:10 (ESV) But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
