Ministry Description

Thank you for checking out our giving page. This year, we have been invited to serve the Lord in two different ministries internationally. The first is on the island of Aruba this winter. Jon and Cheryl will be leading seminars on Word of Life Camp philosophy with the Word of Life Camp team in Aruba. Camping is a new ministry area that is in the early developing stages in this country, and we will be helping them develop their philosophy of program and youth camping. Jon will also be leading a youth ministry leadership conference where he will facilitate several seminars on youth ministry leadership to many local church youth leaders.
In our second international ministry trip, we'll return to the ministry that Jon helped to start in the Czech Republic. This June, the Word of Life Czech ministry is celebrating their 25th anniversary and they have asked Jon, Cheryl and the girls to come and be a part of this celebration of God’s faithfulness. On our way to Cerna Hora, Czech Republic, the family will stop in France for a few days to encourage the Word of Life team there and put Cheryl’s fluent French speaking to use.
We anticipate the cost of both trips to be $5,000. We can't do this without your help.

About Jonathan

Jon grew up in the ministry of Word of Life and trusted Jesus at an early age at a Snow Camp rally. At the age of 12, he surrendered his life to serve God in ministry and went to the Czech Republic in 1997 to start the Word of Life ministry there. He returned to the US in 2002 and spent the following 19 years in a successful sales career. While in Maine, Jon went though a painful divorce that he didn't want, and God really used that to help him grow in his faith in some powerful ways and to equip him uniquely for ministry to men and to families. Jon and Cheryl met in 2012 and were married in 2013. During the Covid pandemic, they began to sense God leading them both back into full-time ministry. Weeks after they decided to pursue a ministry career change, Word of Life called and asked them to return to serve on the Bible Institute faculty and to run the Family Camping ministry. Jon and Cheryl love serving families and students alike and appreciate the opportunities that God has given them to make a difference in the lives of others.
Cheryl was saved at the age of 31, when Jesus transformed her entire life. Although she grew up hearing the gospel, she never had a personal relationship with the Lord. During her college years, she abandoned church completely. In 2009, after a decade of living a completely worldly life, Cheryl came to understand the bondage of sin and placed her faith in Jesus. God radically and wonderfully changed her heart and she began a ministry to African refugees and asylum seekers in the Portland, ME area. Using her linguistics abilities and fluency in the French language, Cheryl was able to see many new Americans come to faith in Jesus and grow in their love for Him. Jon and Cheryl have two older sons, Daniel and Drew, and two younger daughters, Eloise and Willow.
Because of the road they’ve traveled, God has uniquely equipped them for ministry to families. To Him be the glory.

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the Word of Life that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.
