Get to Know John Sathyadass

Ministry Description

As a Worship Arts Intern, I help lead the student bands in practices and playing at different events in schools and chapels which often involves evangelistic outreach and recruitment oppurtunities, putting setlists together for these events. I get to help with setups like stage and set-construction. I also get to contribute creatively in composing original music for camps (a more recent undertaking). I also get to invest into the young men that come to Word of Life, being a disciple of Jesus and pointing them closer to Christ.

About John

I grew up in a home of sinners, just like all of us, but sinners saved by grace! Their love for Jesus shaped my environment, but for many years I leaned more on their faith than my own. When I was seven, after my mother shared the gospel with me, I placed my trust in Christ. Yet my walk with Him remained shallow and largely propped up by the protection of a godly home.

As I entered my late teens, the Lord exposed the pride and hidden sin I had been carrying. I tried to manage it on my own, but unconfessed sin eventually collapses on itself. God brought me to a place of honest repentance, and in turning back to Him I experienced the freedom of knowing that every burden had already been placed on Christ. He restored me, reshaped my identity, and taught me what it means to depend fully on His grace.

After high school, I considered pursuing music education—something I am very passionate about—but the Lord redirected my steps to Word of Life Bible Institute. My year in Florida, followed by a second year in New York, deeply grounded me in Scripture and grew my desire to serve. During that time, God gave me a burden for people who are struggling to find purpose, identity, and joy. I have seen firsthand how Jesus meets people in their brokenness, and I long to point others toward the One who gives true life.

My desire is to serve wherever God places me, using the gifts He has entrusted to me and trusting His strength to accomplish His work. My heartbeat is to see people come closer to Christ and to help them discover their worth, purpose, and hope in Him.

Isaiah 1:18: "Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool."
