Hi, I'm Katie Aseltine. I minister in the United States.
I currently am the first academic intern at Word of Life Bible Institute. My role includes spearheading the tutoring team for our New York campus and assisting our library director in processing new materials. Additionally, I am the teacher's assistant for the Bible Institute's Greek elective, taught by Dr. Jared August. Greek has been reinstituted at WOLBI for the first time in several years. Students who take both semesters of the class will be able to translate the book of first John from the original Greek by the end of the academic year. Helping in facilitating this class has been a joy, as it aids students in experiencing Scripture to a fuller level. As the teacher's assistant, I am responsible for grading all work as well as taking attendance and offering tutoring to any student in need. Another aspect for my position is proofreading. Whether it's week-by-week exams or Dr. August's next publication, I preview it! The diversity in tasks I participate in as our department's intern permits me to experience the backstage of Bible college academics in so many ways.

During my junior year of high school, I finally understood the importance of my faith in my day-to-day life. I had been saved since I was five or six years old, but despite my parents frequently exposing me to God's Word knowing the Lord was not a priority in my life. Within months of getting connected with a woman in my church for formal discipleship, a fire for Scripture was kindled in my soul. Soon, I wanted every teen in my life to know God richly. I zealously served in my youth group and intentionally evangelized to unsaved teens wherever I went.
At seventeen, I began attending Word of Life Bible Institute. My training at WOLBI equipped me to think more deeply about the Lord and furthered my passion for him. During my second year, I grew in awe of God as I studied the spiritual side of hermeneutics. An itch began to form which demanded scratching. I knew I needed to continue to study God's Word and I burst to tell others what I was learning.
Today, I am working on my Masters of Christian Education through Dallas Theological Seminary, which equips me more so to have conversations with current students at the BI about what they are learning in class and beyond.
