Ministry Description

I will be serving with the team in Taiwan during the fall SYME term. At SYME, students are immersed in the English language and the Bible. My main roles will be teaching and working with media. With every role I will have, there will be many opportunities to build relationships and pour into the lives of the students.

About Leia

I grew up in a Christian family in the Bahamas and came to know Christ as my personal Saviour when I was five years old. I served in my church throughout my teen years, and when I was 15, I was challenged to give my WHOLE life, not just parts of it, to God. After finishing high school, I made the decision to attend Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) in Jeju, South Korea. I then went on to the second-year program of WOLBI in New York. During second year, I had the opportunity to go to Taiwan for missions reality and see the ministry of SYME (School of Youth Ministry in English). I had come in contact with this ministry in Korea, and after seeing the impact of SYME and being able to experience it firsthand, I prayed that God would open doors for me to be part of a similar ministry in the future. God has opened and continues to open many doors for ministry, and I have had the opportunity to serve as an English teacher at SYME Korea in 2021 and at English4Life Poland in 2024 and 2025. I now have the opportunity to return to SYME Taiwan in the fall of 2026. God has been faithful in providing direction as I pursue His will in my life, and I know He will continue in that faithfulness. My desire is to live in His will and pursue Him fully, next in Taiwan, and then wherever the Lord leads me after that.

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
