Ministry Description

My wife, family, and myself plan to help the camp staff in what ever way we are needed. I am a "Jack of all trades, and a master of none". I plan on being on staff as a maintenance person. Allowing the other staff to focus on the ministry to the children. My wife is a Registered Nurse and is planing to be on staff in the infirmary/clinic . Though all that may be subject to change because we will do what ever the Lord wants and the staff needs.

About Scott

I was born and raised always going to church. I knew of God and asked Him into my heart at the age of 8. My teen years I strayed. I became an alcoholic and ran from the Lord. The result of my actions put me in prison for 3 years. That is where I found the Lord for real. Shortly afterward I met my wife. I am a 4th generation drainage contractor, and grain farmer. I am active in my home church, playing drums and trombone on our worship team, and serving on the church board. We have always been called to more in God's ministry but never found exactly where He wanted us. In 2017 I was asked to help with a work trip to the Word of Life camp in the Dominican Republic, to fix a drainage issue, and was instantly hooked. I fell in love with the people there and was impressed with their focus on discipleship. The Lord has called us to get more involved with His work in that country. We are answering His call. I have gone on multiple work trips and now the Lord has called my whole family to get involved with camp.

About Marita

I was raised in a conservative Christian home and I gave my heart to Jesus Christ at 6 years old. I'm thankful for that firm foundation from a young age, and the strength God gave me to stay out of trouble in those younger years. I was raised in farm country and I have always enjoyed music, art, science, and helping others. The Lord lead me into a career as a Registered Nurse, and I also studied Spanish in College. After 3 years of practicing as a Nurse, I became a stay-at-home mom, focusing on raising our now 3 children, and serving on the worship team in our church, as well as ministering to young moms in my community thru prayer and loving support. I have had my share of struggles and difficult times, but God has always shown himself faithful, and used those difficulties to grow Me. I have also struggled with why the Lord would call me to the Nursing field to do a job I love, just to call me away from it. I have also wondered why He gave me such a love for the Spanish language and culture, with no opportunity to use it. For years I have prayed over this, and when my husband became involved with WOL I was at first jealous and angry with God. That is, until I realized that God desired to call us as a family to support this ministry, and He knew I would be excited, but He wanted to engage my husband's heart as well. We are so excited that God would allow us to be a part of His work, and what He is doing in the Dominican through Word of Life. To God be the Glory!
