Ministry Description

Begun in 1994, the ministry of Word of Life in Dominican Republic today is led by Marcelo Diez.

WOL DR just purchased, in January 2016, a new 15 acre beach front property with 42 buildings that need converted into camper dorms, hotel rooms, staff housing and family units. This new developing camp property will house 400 campers, 18 family cabin rooms, 12 hotel units and so much more. A full sport complex is designed and a main dining hall and auditorium for 600 guests. With so much to do we need your help! Volunteers can help us in many ways at the camp property. Help is need to complete the work: landscaping, sidewalks, project construction, electrical, plumbing, painting and there is work for everyone. All main electric, water and septic lines need installed for all buildings.

Our goal is to use this camp property as a staging area for training young men and women sending them out into the churches in the DR to be servant leaders. At this time there are over 40 Bible Club programs with more than 200 leaders working with teens in these local churches. The camp will also be used for church retreats, conferences, and of course SUMMER CAMP!

Pray about coming to join us in the work. We would love to have you here to see the ministry for yourself!

Country Description

The Dominican Republic shares an island with the country of Haiti and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Nearly 80 percent of the country's 49,000 sq. km is covered with mountains, but some 20 distinct topographical areas exist in Dominican Republic. About half of the nearly eight million residents live in rural areas and more than two-thirds of the island's people live in substandard conditions. Roman Catholicism is the country's official religion and about 90 percent profess this. About half of the population are believed to be involved in occult practices. Only five percent claim to be Christian.

Taking the Gospel to Unreached People

We held an evangelistic outreach in a village that we believe it was the first time they heard the Word of God. That day a lot of the people in the village came to the Lord.
