Ministry Description

At Word of Life Ukraine, we see God at work through a variety of ministries as we share the Gospel and help young people grow in their relationship with Jesus. Today, our team includes 22 national missionaries. Take a look at some of the key platforms we use to reach and disciple the next generation.

Bible Institute

At the Bible Institute, we welcome young people who feel that their lives and faith are missing a strong foundation. We help students understand the Bible more deeply, strengthen their faith, gain hands-on ministry experience, and learn how to apply biblical truths in their families, workplaces, churches, and communities. The program is designed to last one or two years. Because of the challenges brought on by the war, our institute is currently operating at about 45% of its capacity, and we are working hard to increase that number.

Evangelism Projects

"In Search of Light" is a stage play that tells the story of a city that lost its light. The people set out in search of help and find the Kingdom of Light, where the King gives them both light and protection. The Gospel is clearly shared during the performance, and afterward, our Bible school students—who also play the roles—talk with the audience to continue the conversation about Jesus. Each winter, we bring the play to different cities across Ukraine in partnership with local churches. Over the past three years, more than 25,000 people have seen it. We've heard stories of people who came just to watch—and later came to know Christ and became part of a local church.

In the summer, we run a game program for children. While the points are being counted, we share the Gospel from the stage and then continue the conversations one-on-one.

Summer Camps

We create fun, engaging programs with a strong focus on personal connection with each child. Today, we’re meeting many pastors and ministry leaders across Ukraine who share that they first gave their lives to Christ at one of our camps. The lasting fruit of camp ministry is evident—lives dedicated to God. That’s what keeps us going and inspires us to keep serving children and youth through camp.

Conferences

We believe in the power of decisions. Our conferences are intense times of learning, encountering spiritual truths, and being challenged to surrender every part of life to God—step by step.

Quiet Time Diary

Each year, we create and publish a Quiet Time Diary in Ukrainian to help young people spend daily time in God’s Word and prayer. It’s more than just a reading plan—it’s a space to reflect, write, and grow. The diary is available not only to our students but to anyone who desires a deeper walk with God. Over the years, thousands have used it to build a consistent and meaningful time with the Lord.

Country Description

Twenty years ago, few people could have found Ukraine on a map. Today, people around the world hold strong and often controversial views about it.

Over the past three years, due to war, migration, and loss, Ukraine’s population has dropped from 40 million to approximately 31 million. It is a country with deep Christian roots, predominantly shaped by the Orthodox tradition, yet only 1 in 27 people (about 3.64%) identify with an evangelical faith. Protestant churches are growing, but they are still often viewed with suspicion, seen as something strange or even sect-like. Today the country of Ukraine enjoys such Religious Libery, that it is unparalleled to any European country. Ministry opportunities are vast and diverse.

The spiritual darkness here is not only religious tradition without living faith. It’s also fear, uncertainty, cynicism, and inner compromise. People are asking painful questions: "Where is God? Why did He allow this? Where is justice? How do we move forward?". The Gospel speaks directly into this pain: God is not silent. He has not abandoned us. He reigns even in the chaos. There is eternal life — and death is not the end.

For many, Ukraine is a headline, geopolitics, or a conspiracy theory. For us, Ukraine is about real people — weary, courageous, and strong — facing the greatest trial of their lives. And we know: in this darkness, they need light. They need Christ. When they encounter Him, they find security, courage, hope, and the strength to resist evil with love. It is here, in the midst of suffering, that they can discover true faith and real freedom.

At Word of Life Ukraine, our desire is to stand with our people during these challenging times—supporting the next generation as they take their next step with Jesus.
