Word of Life Taiwan is excited to launch our new Taiwanese internship program!
This internship is open to Taiwanese nationals and starts with a 2-month term at SYME where we acclimate them to the culture of Word of Life Taiwan and get to know them. Following this they will spend 10 months working in one of these three tracks:
1. Marketing | Social Media and Communications
The marketing Internship will teach interns how to share the story of God's work through our ministry in Taiwan. They will develop strategic and creative content for use in person or on social media platforms. Content such as student testimonies, covering events, and gospel centered communication. This will be used to inspire, inform, and mobilize others to pray, give, serve, or even join us in Taiwan.
2. Ministries | Youth, Evangelism, & Discipleship
The ministries internship is a front-facing role where interns will engage in hands-on Gospel ministry. They'll gain experience in youth ministry, evangelistic outreach, discipleship, and camp ministry. A key aspect of this track is developing in the ability to disciple and share the gospel in a ministry context.
3. Translator | Bilingual Ministry Support
The translation Internship will teach interns to edit and develop materials for use in ministry. We have hundreds of resources as well as events and activities that translation can greatly be used for and would be a huge benfit to WOL accessing the immense existing resources that our organization has already produced. This would also involve localizing things to Taiwanese context and helping us move forward in our Mandarin ministries.
What does Word of Life Taiwan need for this internship program?
To accomplish this we are raising the funds to hire three interns to serve throughout 2026. On average it costs us as a ministry around $18,000 USD to fund a full-time intern annually.
The hope is that this internship will create a pipeline to strengthen our team by adding additional Taiwanese staff. One of the biggest needs for WOL Taiwan to grow in the future is to have a larger national staff and we see this as a key way to head that direction.
Common Questions
Q: Why is it a paid internship? Aren't most internships unpaid?
A: It's very difficult for a young adult to serve in ministry in Taiwan. They often have to go against the wishes of a success driven culture where family pressures them to be a skilled, educated, and well-paid. Ministry as a service profession is very difficult for Taiwanese people to enter because of these obligations to family. Taiwan labor laws also have some clear minimum standards in regards to pay and this intership gives nationals the opportunity to serve while still fulfilling really important family obligations related to finances and success.
All three of these positions will offer a paid full-time position with a mixture of hands on ministry exposure and core responsibilities. This internship will offer Taiwanese applicants the minimum wage, benefits, and pension plan required for Taiwanese jobs as well as cover housing and food.
Q. Why is this only a one year internship?
A: At WOL all of our full-time staff are church sent faith missionaries. This one year program is designed to give them exposure to ministry while also cultivating an understanding of what being a missionary entails. In Taiwan, support raising through the local church is relatively uncommon. It takes a lot of training and time for those unfamiliar with biblical fundraising to grasp the importance of a team that sends them to the field.
Through serving with us, we will help interns to develop a prayer team, new skills, and learn what it means to serve as a missionary sent by the local church. Interns will observe what support raising involves and be given the opportunity to get specialized training in fundraising as well as build a network so that after the internship they can continue on with Word of Life if God is calling them to our ministry.
